So... We bought another watch. Send help!

I saw the Helm Togiak Expedition UTC (GMT), and fell in love. It was gorgeous.

I signed up for the wait list — and waited. Then waited some more. I got the email in February, and had to snag it!

Let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

Specs and Design

The Helm Togiak has a 42mm G2 titanium case, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, 200M of water resistance, and a beautifully engraved screw-down caseback.

I opted for the mustard-colored full lume dial, with the elapsed-time bezel.

I have to say, this watch ticks A LOT of boxes for me.

I saw the Helm Togiak Expedition UTC (GMT), and fell in love. It was gorgeous.

I'm a big fan of legible, bold handsets — Helm nailed these hands. The oversized arrow hour hand alongside a non-tapered sword minute hand give the watch a stylized utilitarian feel that I'm a big fan of.

The bezel is unique. It breaks away from the typical dive watch look, and the lumed pip adds to that tool-watch vibe. The knurling matches the crown, and it strikes a great balance — not too sharp, but plenty of grip, even when wet.

Let's talk about the caseback — I love it.

The caseback really captures the spirit of this watch — after all, the watch was named after the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska.

It features deeply engraved topology centered over what looks like a riverbed. The Helm logo is placed offset within the stippled riverbed. I really appreciate when a brand does something unique with a caseback — not just the logo slapped on the back.

The GMT hand is easy to distinguish — thinner, arrow-tipped, fully outlined, with a touch of matching yellow. Subtle, but effective.

The seconds hand is another win. That rectangular lumed paddle near the tip really ties the whole design together.

Overall, I'm impressed.

It delivers a lot for the price — both in specs and design.

What more could you ask? It's got a ton of technical specs for the spec nerd, and if you like the utilitarian, overbuilt design language, you'll love this watch.

I’ve already got some adventures lined up — river trips, overseas travel, etc. Looking forward to putting it through its paces.
